Hayworth Seed is a Hayworth Family Business

Russ Hayworth
A fourth generation farmer with over thirty years in grass seed production with Hayworth Farms, Russ Hayworth attended Oregon State University majoring in Crop Science. For the past twenty years, Russ has focused on turf grass research, production, and consulting to the golf and sports turf industries in the western United States.

Russ currently provides comprehensive grass seed specifications and recommendations to the top golf course architects and their respective projects. He has supplied seed and sod to many NFL, MLB, and Collegiate stadiums and athletic facilities around the country. Russ is a member of the Oregon Landscape Contractors Association, Sports Turf Managers Association, and Golf Course Superintendents Association. He currently serves as Turf Consultant and Field Manager to the Fiesta Bowl and Insight Bowl practice facilities.

Mary McDole
Mary also represents the fourth generation of the Hayworth family farming operations. Mary attended Cal Poly – San Luis Obispo and is a graduate of the School of Agribusiness majoring in Animal Science. In addition to turf, Mary brings a wealth of knowledge in forage, pasture grasses, and their proper applications, especially as they pertain to equine forage management. Mary is a member of the Oregon Landscape Contractors Association.

Hubert Christensen
Hubert has served as manager of Hayworth Seed Warehouse since it was built in 1966. Born and raised in the Harrisburg area, Hubert attended Cal Poly University (Ag. Bus. & Animal Science) before returning to his career in the grass seed industry. In the last 40 years Hubert has witnessed the growth and many changes in the seed industry. His expertise and overall experience in seed cleaning and conditioning are recognized throughout the industry. Hubert is a member of the Oregon Ryegrass Growers – Advisory Board of Seed Conditioners.

Randy Rucker
Randy is a thirty year veteran in the grass seed industry. He has spent the majority of his career at Hayworth Seed Warehouse. Randy’s expertise is in all areas of grass seed cleaning, blending, and packaging. He also provides excellent recommendations for the establishment and maintenance of new lawn and pasture applications. Randy’s “common sense” approach to the proper selection and usage of grass seed has helped many happy customers over the years.

Darren Hayworth
Darren is the youngest member of the Hayworth Farms family. He was born an Oregonian and raised in Arizona. Growing up, Darren spent most of his summer vacations working on the farm harvesting grass seed with his grandfather (the late John Hayworth). At an early age he also was called upon to help his father (Russ Hayworth) in establishing turf grass trials and research plots at golf courses and sod farms in Arizona, Texas, and California.

Darren has also devoted many years and tireless effort with the overseeding and complete turf maintenance program of the Fiesta Bowl and Insight Bowl football practice fields. Newly transplanted back to Oregon, Darren brings this “hands on” approach to any successful turf project. Darren is a member of the Sports Turf Managers Association.
